VETERINARY TECHICIAN TRAINEE  -  CLOSED

This position is open to individuals  (ages 18 - 25) who are looking to start a career in the field of veterinary medicine.   Maybe you've just graduated high school and don't intend to go to college, or you've been in the workforce for a few years  but haven't found your niche. This is an opportunity for a fresh start in a rewarding field.  We have a unique one-year paid training program that will prepare you for employment at any veterinary practice.

Vet Tech Characteristics:

  • Compassion:  Techs must have compassion not only for animals, but for their owners.
  • Attention to Detail:  Techs should be good multi-taskers, as they are required to observe animals, record information with accuracy, be good listeners, take direction from the vet, and run lab work.
  • Team Player: Techs often work with several other techs and must coordinate their efforts effectively.
  • Good Communication Skills: Techs administrative tasks that require conversing with pet owners and medical staff.
  • Physically Fit: Techs lift animals onto exam tables, carry pet carriers, manage large dogs.

 




PET GROOMER  TRAINEE-  OPEN

This position is open to individuals  (ages 18 - 25) who are looking to start a career in the field of pet grooming.   Maybe you've just graduated high school and don't intend to go to college, or you've been in the workforce for a few years  but haven't found your niche.  This is an opportunity for a fresh start. While developing your skills during the year of training, you will be paid an hourly wage.  However, upon mastery of all the groomer requirements, you’ll be well-prepared to accept a commission based position at any pet grooming facility.

This is a paid internship. $12 per hour for a 40 hour work week.  You must be prepared to commit to a full year of employment..

Groomer Characteristics:

  • Stamina: Groomers are on their feet for long periods of time, sometimes hunched over animals during the grooming process. 
  • Compassion: Dogs and cats often get stressed out in unfamiliar situations, and groomers need to understand this and treat them accordingly.
  • Customer-Service: Groomers work with customers directly, and must be friendly and listen to their requests and needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Groomers must pay attention to what they are doing, so that the animals stay safe and the grooming comes out looking great.


Veterinary Technician: CLOSED

  • Prepare treatment room for examination of animals
  • Restrain animals during exam, treatment, or inoculation.
  • Administer injections, performs venipunctures, and takes vital signs of animal.
  • Assist with general medical care and lab work.
  • Clean and maintain medical clinic areas and kennels. 
  • Assist with surgery.  Dental expereince is a plus. 
  • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the veterinary field. 
  • A minimum of one year as vet tech and two years of general work experience in a team environment desired.
  • Salary range: $11.00 to $13.00 per hour  D.O. E.

Part-time Veterinarian  OPEN
Looking for a rewarding position?  Our  Clinic has expanded and is now looking for another part-time veterinarian.   We are St. Johns County’s only low-cost, high volume spay/neuter clinic that is certified ASPCA Humane Alliance.  We also operate a wellness clinic that serves low-income pet owners, and looking to fill one day a week.  You'll enjoy a great support staff. Facility Maintenance/Cleaning - OPEN

  • Position is primarily cleaning,  organizing storage areas, facility maintenance, and laundry.
  • Tasks also include outdoor lawn and parking lot clean up.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, maintain a professional attitude.
  • Animal Handling: Interaction with animals includes dog bathing, dog walking, and lifting heavy dogs onto surgical tables. Pet food storage and distrubution also requires ability to lift up to and sometimes more than 75 lbs.
  •  Mon.- Friday 24  to 36 hours per week. schedule to be determined
  • Salary range:  $10.50 to $13.00 per hour

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR:  OPEN
The Development Director organizes large-scale fundraising initiatives, works with board members, identifies and writes grants, manages the annual fund, builds relationships with donors together with the Executive Director, ientifies and cultivates relationships with prosepctive major gift donors, grows small donors, oversees in-kind donations, manages donor database and works with the Community Relations Director to support volunteer management.
